Strain Analyser is an application to allow the user to easily manage data from a Brillouin Optical Time-Domain Reflectometry (BOTDR) strain sensing system. It is able to perform temperatute compensation (given additional data from a temperature-only fibre), combination of repeated datasets and illustration of the change in strain data over time.

It was developed by Malcolm Scott for the University of Cambridge Geotechnical Research Group and is accompanied by a dissertation, available at http://strainanalyser.malc.org.uk/dissertation.pdf. The dissertation includes a fair amount of implementation detail and it is recommended to make use of this if you intend to work on the code.

There is currently no packaged version of this software available but you can obtain the code at https://code.launchpad.net/~strainanalyser/strainanalyser/trunk; it requires a working installation of Python 2.6 with pyGTK, Matplotlib and NumPy.
